Sigma Nu at William Jewell
This fall Sigma Nu is trying to recruit even more great men at William Jewell. This creates a unique, once in a lifetime oportunity to build a truly outstanding organization and create a legacy of honor. The men who take on this challenge will be creating traditions and standards that will be know for 50 and 100 years from now by Sigma Nus at William Jewell.  So take a look through the website to learn more about what Sigma Nu is all about, what we are looking for in our potential members, and the value that Sigma Nu offers to its members. Hopefully after reading this information you will want to start taking the steps towards joining The Legion of Honor.

Why Sigma Nu?
There are three significant reasons why membership in Sigma Nu is unique and distinctive beyond what other fraternities have to offer.

Sigma Nu was founded in opposition to Hazing
Sigma Nu was actually founded as a protest movement to hazing. Our three founders were unwilling to accept any amount of hazing then being allowed at VMI. Not one ounce of hazing were they willing to suffer and they were doggedly adamant about eliminating it. In October 1868, with clasped hands on the Bible, they gave their solemn pledge to form a brotherhood of a new society they called the Legion of Honor. So, while most fraternities are opposed to hazing today, Sigma Nu is the only fraternity that was actually founded in opposition to hazing.

Sigma Nu is the ONLY Honor Fraternity
Our founders at Virginia Military Institute lived by a code of honor. The Honor system at VMI required each cadet to conform to the duty imposed by his conscience that each act be governed by a high sense of Honor. We are the first fraternity to be founded upon this honor principle. When lived out in the bonds of fraternal brotherhood, the honor principle brings a level of integrity and excellence that is uncommon in a world of relative truth.

Sigma Nu has the most acclaimed Leadership development program

Sigma Nu's LEAD Program (Leadership, Ethics, Achievement and Development) is the most comprehensive leadership development program in the Greek world. LEAD is not only for new members or officers, but for every member throughout his college years. A five-phase program, sessions include exercises, simulations and discussions to highlight leadership issues students will face while in school and later in their lives and careers. LEAD is one of the many ways Sigma Nu achieves its mission.

Sigma Nu will compliment and enhance your other leadership experiences such as the The Pryor Leadership Program, Emerging Leaders, American Humanics, and Athletics, among other organizations.

We invite men of the highest character and aspirations to join our ranks, supporting each other in our quest for Honor.
